This piece is part of my unique collection of paper-cutting art, created using exquisite gilded metal leaf paper meticulously hand-pressed by skilled artisans in Hiroshima, Japan. Their craftsmanship imbues the paper with a one-of-a-kind texture and timeless quality that enhances the artwork. Inspired by my enduring fascination with the shapes and shadows of nature, each piece reflects a harmonious blend of artistry and tradition.
This paper-cutting artwork was originally created for the 2022 Summer Art Exhibition at a London gallery. The design features a chrysanthemum (known as 'Kiku' in Japanese), a flower deeply cherished in Japanese culture for its elegance and symbolism of longevity and rejuvenation.
Each time you gaze upon it, the intricate design invites a sense of tranquillity and joy, reminiscent of a serene bouquet of radiant flowers.

A unique fact about gilded metal leaf hand-pressed paper:
This artwork utilises metal foil (gold brass leaf), which may discolour or corrode over time due to factors such as moisture, perspiration, ultraviolet rays, and environmental substances. The unique patina that develops with the passage of time is a characteristic feature of metals, and I hope you will appreciate its evolving beauty.
